A Dog Squad was deployed to catch the offenders, but they escaped in a black Ford Ranger which had been stolen from Springfield Lakes.
The pair remain at large.
Snr Sgt Doyle said Newnham Rd and Wishart Rd Upper Mt Gravatt, and Ham Rd Mansfield were the “hardest hit” areas, but that cars were also broken into at Palm Ave, Boronia Ave, and Dunrod St Holland Park West.
At 2.45am on Sunday night, the two offenders were disturbed by a dog as they broke into two cars parked in a Palm Ave front yard.
“The resident went outside and chased them to Acacia Pl and saw them attempting to get inside another car parked in a driveway,” Snr Sgt Doyle said.
“The offenders then ran through a heap of yards. Numerous attempts (were) made to enter vehicles along the way.
“They then entered a vehicle in Boronia Ave also, stealing credit cards.”
Snr Sgt Doyle said this spate of vehicle break-ins is a reminder to keep doors locked and never to leave valuables in your car.
