A rapidly growing gym franchise has been given development approval to build a 10m-high gym on a ‘rundown’ site in Brisbane’s east.
TCF Properties’ application has been approved to demolish an existing gym and swim school at 1604 Wynnum Road, Tingalpa, to build a new state-of-the-art gym under new management by Fitness Cartel.
The 1655 sqm Fitness Cartel gym will feature five activity rooms with a rooftop deck, including a group fitness studio, separate gender-based amenities, pilates studio, cardio deck and comfort zone.
The two-storey, 10m-tall gym will also provide 87 carparking spaces.
An existing gym operating as Salt Health Club and an Australian Crawl Swim School on the eastern side of the lot will be demolished to facilitate the Fitness Cartel gym.
“The proposal will achieve a revitalised development to an otherwise rundown facility, that will dramatically present a better outcome for the community and streetscape,” the application reads.”
The approval for this Tingalpa gym is part of the Fitness Cartel’s target of opening 60 new clubs by 2029, with a gym at Holmview, 31-49 Logan River Road, set to open this winter.
The Fitness Cartel brand began only two years ago at an impressive centre in Aspley and was aimed at the middle market between “muscle’’ gyms and those catering to occasional users.
The company's website says there’s locations coming to Eastern Brisbane, the Western corridor of Brisbane and North Queensland.
