ELENA Gosse has some unfinished business, both on the dance floor and in life.

The Mackenzie woman is dusting off her dancing shoes in preparation for the Dancing CEOs Women’s Legal Service Queensland fundraiser at Brisbane City Hall on May 17.

Although she loves dancing and has some experience in the entertainment industry from her former career in Russia, Ms Gosse has a much deeper and more personal reason to be involved in an event that raises funds to support the prevention of domestic and family violence.

She is a survivor of domestic and family violence.

“Many people know me as the successful CEOs of one of Australia’s most innovative companies but what most don’t know is that I am also a survivor of domestic and family violence,” she said.

“My father died last year and unfortunately my mother, sisters and I personally experienced the impacts of domestic and family violence at his hands when I was a child.

“I now feel a great responsibility to help women and children in similar situations.”

She said the sad reality was that domestic and family violence did not discriminate.

“In fact, it could be happening right now to someone you know or love. As a community we need to talk openly about domestic violence and make a united stand against it. We must let women know they are not alone and encourage the perpetrators of domestic violence to seek the help they need.”

Ms Gosse has collected more than $17,000 worth of raffle prizes from diamond jewellery to lunch at Parliament House with the Minister for Employment and Small Business.

She has previously raised $23,000 and won the event’s Community Awareness Champion Award in 2016.

She’s moving on from the tantalising tango routine that turned heads last time she hit the floor and is focusing more on a hip-hop routine.
