DEVELOPER Justin Ham believes a new set of tenants filling the old Wynnum Shopping Centre building will breathe life into the town’s CBD.

Mr Ham, the managing director of Berrima Develop Pty Ltd, bought the former IGA centre last July with one new tenant already moved in and two set to follow in the coming months.

The IGA closed in July, 2017.

He said Anytime Fitness opened in January with more than 1000 people signing up to the gym, while a Fun Fit Play children exercise centre will open next month and has experienced similar interest from the public.

A fruit shop is also due to open in April.

Mr Ham said these new tenants in the centre on the corner of Florence St and Bay Tce would help build interest in the CBD.

“These 3 tenants will see over 6000 people a week come into the once vacant centre and breathe life back into the centre of Wynnum,” he said.

“These tenants assist other operates in the area as people will come all year around and especially during school holidays which is a traditionally slower period for the Wynnum CBD as the community has little to hold families in that area.

“The community will be retained in the area with more entertainment locally and families from outside the area will travel to the bayside to visit the Wynnum Pool, grab something to eat locally and the kids can enjoy a warrior ninja course at the Wynnum Shopping Center all in one day on the bay.

“A lot of baysiders leave the area for entertainment, keeping our money local will only improve the experiences of living on the Brisbane’s bayside of Wynnum and surrounding suburbs.”

Mr Ham and Berrima Develop Pty Ltd is also in charge of the new Wynnum cinema development on Berrima St with building recently announced to start in April.
