COUNCILLOR Peter Cumming has called for resurfacing works to be carried out saying filling potholes is not enough to fix the bayside’s “crumbling” streets.
The Wynnum Manly ward councillor said he was astonished that three local streets needed 90 pot holes filled in the space of a few months.

Cr Cumming said Brisbane City Council needed to do more to bring the roads up to scratch.
“To have 20 to 30 potholes in a particular street in a short period of time shows that resurfacing is required,” he said.
Thirty potholes were filled in Export St, Lytton while Wynnum’s Florence St needed 22 patched and West Ave had 38.

Cr Cumming said there are five streets in the area (listed below) that he believed required urgent attention, including Wondall Road that was covered in cracks and grass.
“It will need a mow soon,” he said.
The council’s field services chair Vicki Howard hit back at Cr Cumming saying if there are roads that need fixing: “it is his responsibility as the local councillor to report it”.
The council fills more than 70,000 potholes each year.
