Broadwater Rd Mansfield accident: Boy, 13, hit by vehicle

A 13-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after he was hit by a vehicle on Brisbane’s southside during peak-hour traffic.

A 13-year-old boy has been rushed to Queensland Children’s Hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Brisbane’s southside this morning.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Broadwater and Ham roads, with Queensland Ambulance receiving the call at 8.34am.

Holland Park Police Officer in Charge Snr Sgt Kylie Doyle told the Southern Star the boy was “dropping in and out of consciousness” when emergency services arrived.

She said he suffered leg injuries and concussion.

The QAS spokeswoman said the boy was stabilised and transported to QCH in a stable condition.

Snr Sgt Doyle said traffic was blocked eastbound on Broadwater Rd.

A community member on social media reported seeing multiple ambulances and fire trucks, and police vehicles at the scene of the accident.

The boy is understood to be a student of Mansfield State High School, with the P&C association putting out a statement via Facebook.

“People may have heard about an accident this morning with a student being hit by a car,” they said.

“We can report the student is in very good spirits and has been taken to hospital for observation and we hope minor medical attention.

“His parents are with him as they were close by at the time.

“Thanks to all those who help this morning.

“We wish him a quick and speedy recovery.”
