OUR city’s best years are yet to come and new Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has one simple goal — “to make sure the Brisbane of tomorrow is even better than the Brisbane of today”.

When I was born in 1977, little did we know that Brisbane was about to start making its transition from a big country town to a New World City.

One of my earliest memories as a child was the excitement around the 1982 Brisbane Commonwealth Games.

Then, as a primary school student, Brisbane was the centre of the universe for six months during Expo ’88.

Ever since, Brisbane has been at the centre of my universe – it’s in my marrow and my blood.

It has been on an incredible journey over the past few decades and I love everything about it, from its outdoor lifestyle, parks and green spaces to our innovative business culture and diverse multicultural community.

But Brisbane’s best years are yet to come and as Lord Mayor, I have one simple goal – to make sure the Brisbane of tomorrow is even better than the Brisbane of today.

I am focused on building a better Brisbane through projects such as the Player Street Connection, Brisbane Metro and five new green bridges, and protecting what’s great about our city and suburbs by creating new parks through the biggest investment in green space our city has ever seen.

I’m here because I love this city. I’m incredibly positive about the city’s future and I can think of nothing better than continuing the vision of my predecessors, rolling up my sleeves and serving local residents as their new Lord Mayor.
