SCOTTISH craft beer giants BrewDog have revealed when they expect to serve the first Brisbane-brewed beer to the public at the new $30 million Murarrie headquarters.

The Scottish craft beer company was granted approval for the development on Tuesday and has now released its expected schedule for construction and opening.

Construction on the building is expected to start as soon as July and is due to be completed by the end of the year, before the first Brisbane-brewed beer is served in the first quarter of next year.

A major party is being planned to celebrate the opening.

“We couldn’t be happier to set up our brewing operation in the awesome area of Murarrie,” BrewDog Australia director Zarah Prior said.

“We’ve seen incredible support from the local community, local brewers, and council in both Brisbane and the wider Queensland region.

“We want to build on southeast Queensland’s remarkable success as the home of some of Australia’s most awarded and loved craft breweries, and add our voice to grow the appreciation of great craft beer in Australia.”

Brisbane City Councillor (Doboy ward) Ryan Murphy said there was significant public interest in the opening of the brewery.

“I’ve been getting inquiries to my office on almost a daily basis wondering what’s happening with the application ... this is a really great outcome. We in the eastern suburbs are just so pleased and can’t wait to see it get started,” Cr Murphy said.
