An ex-bikie has posted to his Instagram followers about the latest win in his court proceedings, in which he is charged with being an accessory to Omega Ruston’s murder.

Former sergeant-at-arms of the Bandidos bikie gang, Brent Luke Simpson, 42, was charged in 2022 — 13 years after Mr Ruston was fatally shot in an alleged road rage incident at North Burleigh.

Simpson, who now hosts The Clink podcast, was also charged with attempting to corrupt a witness and 18 counts of perjury.

He attended Brisbane Magistrates’ Court in person on Friday to have his strict bail conditions varied.

The court heard the matter was scheduled to proceed to a committal hearing in March, 2025.

Simpson was granted a new bail undertaking, which was agreed to by both the defence and prosecution.

His previous bail from March, 2022 was revoked.

Moments after signing his new bail undertaking, Simpson posted a reel (video) to Instagram to update his fans about the news.

“I have the best legal team in Australia,” he posted.

“I am now, after two-and-a-half years, going to get my ankle bracelet removed.”

Simpson told his followers that he had “basically all (his) bail variations thrown out.”

His original bail included conditions stipulating he live at Palm Beach, report to police daily, abide by a curfew between 9pm and 6am, possess no weapons or drugs, surrender his passport, not go near an airport or leave Australia and not leave Queensland without permission.

In the video posted to his Instagram, Simpson can be seen talking to his camera while walking through the Brisbane CBD near the courthouse.

“I cannot wait. We go back to fight this matter in March next year,” he said.

“Thank you everybody for your ongoing support… it has been phenomenal.

“I can’t put it into words at the moment, the feeling of knocking down these constant barriers.”

Alleged gunman Paul Younan was charged with murder in 2022 in relation to Mr Ruston’s death. Two others were charged with being an accessory.

Their matters are still ongoing.
