One of Queensland’s biggest car dealerships has teamed up with an innovative Brisbane business to bring a unique $1.5 million addition to their range of showrooms across the bayside.
Bartons Car Dealerships last night launched its new flashy showroom at Capalaba, called EV Moto, showcasing and selling road registered electric scooters from Kelvin Grove start-up company Benzina Zero.
The showroom is an Australian first for a car dealership, adding to Bartons’ unique business moves recently, which included opening an electric golf cart shop and launching a barber shop within their Wynnum location.
It also comes after Bartons recently completed more than $10 million worth of redevelopments on its Capalaba and Wynnum showrooms.
Benzina Zero is a business from scooter enthusiasts Joe D’Ercole and Ben Silver, who have 40 years of combined scooter selling experience, and is part of their global plan to remove cars from the road.
The showroom features four models from Benzina Zero, which means ‘zero fuel’ in Italian, and including models with speeds of up to 90km per hour and others which go as low as 45km per hour.
The products are road registered scooters, which can be used with a car license.
Bartons director Mark Beitz said going electric was the “way of the future”.
“Our EV Moto garage lifestyle concept is a cool vibe showroom that appeals to people of all ages suiting the vast range of electric products now for sale,” he said.
“Benzina Zero is our ‘hero electric brand’ that has been designed with a European flavour and Italian vibe and we are proud to be partnering with Joe and Ben from Benzina.”
Mr Silver from Benzina Zero said everyone was talking about electric.
“People are starting to make the switch because they can see the social, lifestyle and environmental benefits,” he said.
“Swapping a car for a Benzina Zero electric scooter means you can remove two tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions from our atmosphere every year.
“Benzina are standing behind their passion for the environment by pledging to regenerate one square metre of Australian land for every scooter sold to build a Benzina Zero forest.”
Prices range from $4250 up to $7250.
