Brisbane State High School students have pulled off something of a stage coup with their latest effort, a unique collaboration with the top-end of town in performance expertise.

BSHS and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre teamed up to produce Timeless, a stage show celebrating the centenary of the state’s oldest public high school.

Timeless, which opened on Wednesday and shows again tonight (Friday, June 3) and twice tomorrow, is a theatre performance showcasing the creativity and talents of 350 students, alumni and staff.

Through dance, music, drama and audiovisual design, the audience is transported back in time to discover the 100-year story of State High.

QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas said they were proud to partner with State High.

“For a school such as Brisbane State High School, celebrating 100 years has significance that reaches well beyond the school gates and beyond the current student cohort,” Mr Kotzas said.

“This beating heart of our community has formed, inspired, and educated generations of student; equipping them to dream, achieve and reach their full potential.

“In addition to the remarkable production that has been created by the students, teachers and support staff, this collaboration allowed our QPAC team to mentor and provide professional development opportunities for all those involved.

“We hope to see the fruits of this partnership in the arts industry into the future.”

BSHS Executive Principal, Wade Haynes, said Timeless was more than just a show.

“We are about learning. We are about learning in a range of ways and we are curious,’’ he said.

“We know that our students, their collaborators and our staff have produced something

amazing.

“Our interest is in what the students have learned and what they can help us learn.’’
