Young child among those rescued from sinking boat in Moreton Bay
A child was among five people rescued from a boat after it started taking on water last night before it ran aground on a sandbank.

A YOUNG child was among those rescued from a sinking boat at Redland Bay overnight.
A family of five was celebrating the New Year about 7.30pm when their ski boat began taking on water.
The boat, with four adults and one young child, then ran aground on a sandbank just outside Redland Bay.
Water police, the Queensland Ambulance Service and Redland Bay Coastguard responded to the skipper’s calls for help and were able to help pull the family from their sinking vessel.
A crew from the Redland Bay Coast Guard were able to pump water from the sinking boat and tow it into Weinam Creek before winching it from the water.

Hefty fine dished out for undersized catch
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the family was checked by paramedics and cleared to go home without treatment.
The incident comes as water safety authorities send an urgent message to boaties to be careful on the water these summer holidays.
