A renowned swing and jazz vocalist has begun his new venture into producing and performing at his very own nostalgic party cruise, celebrating timeless 80s classics along the Brisbane river in March 2024.

Craig Martin, from Cleveland, best known for his Brit charm and lively performances across Queensland is expanding his repertoire by going “back to his roots” with his latest venture River City Events.

Craig said the idea sparked when he attended a wedding where the audience was invigorated by the band playing ’80s anthems.

“It reminded me of the era of music that makes feel alive, lose their inhibitions and really let loose with the nostalgic tunes, who doesn’t love the ’80s?” Mr Martin said.

“I have combined my love of music with the incredible views from the Brisbane River to showcase this beautiful city we live in.

“After trialling the first three cruises in September 2022 we have been inundated with requests for us to do it all again. We are sailing on the appropriately named ‘Lady in Red’ Brisbane’s premier party boat which boasts a raised stage for that authentic concert experience”.,” he said.

Guests are encouraged to dress up in their best ’80s getup for the two-hour performance.

“It is the perfect opportunity to meet new people while in full party glamour, one couple who met up on the last cruise are getting married; she was Madonna and he was Simon Le Bon and of course I’m performing at the wedding later this year,” Mr Martin said.

“This time my Rubix Cube band have a new setlist, bigger dance moves and even more surprises.

“The music we play is adored by people of every generation, last time we were impressed with how many younger guests knew every word, these anthems are adored by everyone.

This is not Mr Martin’s only seafaring adventure this year, in October he will be performing his theatre show ‘The Great British Songbook’ on board The Bravo Cruise alongside some of Australia’s premier music talents, including Todd McKenney and Marina Prior.
