A bull-riding real estate agent from Queensland has been jettisoned into the world of international stardom and will film a top-rating US property-buying show this weekend.

Redland Bay’s Jesse James, who lives up to his cowboy name as a bull rider in his spare time, will star in the popular US TV reality show House Hunters International with Australian-based director Anita Poteri.

For the weekend’ episode, Mr James was given the tough brief of finding a large waterfront apartment to rent north of Brisbane with room for outdoor barbecues for US couple Nick and Samantha from Chicago.

The Redland Bay-based team, who will meet the couple for the first time on the weekend, had to get out of their southside comfort zone to scour Redcliffe, north of Brisbane, for three properties.

All will feature in House Hunters International, which screens in the US first and will air on 9 Life in Australia in July.

The Chicago couple, who love their beef, particularly asked for the larrikin Aussie agent after they watched the hilarious episode of the stetson-wearing cowboy selling a house with a cane toad swimming in the pool.

His first appearance on the show was memorable when he got knocked unconscious after being bucked off a bull at a bull ride at the Gem Hotel, south of Brisbane, leaving a bewildered director concerned that her star talent was out of action.

In another episode, Mr James, who drives a V8 Ram 1500 truck, had everyone on set laughing when they were filming with a Texan woman, Leona Reidy and her now husband Wade.

The couple moved from Texas to Shailer Park and had some laughs with Mr James on the way.

“She kept letting me know that everything was much bigger in Texas and that my Ram utility was just a baby compared to the RAMS in the US,” he said.

“I let her know that if everything was bigger over in Texas that I hoped her bank balance and wallet were too so she could afford to buy her home in Queensland.

“When I got knocked out in my ride at the Gem Hotel, the director thought I was dead and freaked out … turns out it made for good TV and I received fan mail from the US asking if I had survived.

“We also got a lot of laughs when I showed another couple, Dave and Steph, a cane toad swimming in a pool — that was funny as Steph was not a fan.

“They ended up moving to Capalaba from the US,” Mr James said.

The joke-cracking cowboy’s popularity has resulted in the show’s popularity soaring with a massive 10 million views per episode, which is on-sold to more than 200 broadcasters.

Viewers will not be disappointed as Mr James is set for a number of reappearances after recent meetings between the Australian producer Ms Poteri and Leopard, the US production company in New York.

“They have requested more episodes with me after the show’s ratings go up each time I air in the US,” Mr James said.

“The producers said that I am watched because of my cowboy attire and the fact I drive a Ram.”

The reality show follows buyers as they work with a local real estate agent to choose between three different properties.

It documents everything from the real estate agent’s daily life to the interiors of some of the world’s most exclusive homes and scenic locations as some of the fussiest buyers look for a place in the Queensland sun.
