Man flown to hospital after falling at notorious Straddie North Gorge
Stradbroke Island’s notorious North Gorge has claimed another victim after a tourist was flown to hospital with back and pelvis injuries today.

Stradbroke Island’s notorious North Gorge has claimed another victim after a tourist was flown to hospital with back and pelvis injuries today.
The man, was walking along the scenic North Gorge is believed to have slipped and fallen from a height along the walk.
Paramedics called to the area said he suffered serious injuries to his back and pelvis but was in a stable condition when he was taken in a chopper to Princess Alexandra Hospital just after 2pm.
The gorge is a major tourist attraction, notorious for its sharp drops and more than 5km of boardwalk.
It snakes around the rocky headland at Point Lookout and Headland Park, which towers more than 200m above the beach.

The location of the accident, away from the main road at Point Lookout, hampered rescue efforts.
The man was initially believed to have fallen more than 10m near a cliff face, which has a sharp precipice into the gorge.
A Korean man died while fishing at the Gorge in 2013 when waves knocked him off the rocks and into the water.
Another man died in 2013 after suffering a heart attack at the Gorge.
Blake Terry, 20, from Bellbowrie in Brisbane’s west, died after slipping on the cliff at South Gorge and falling on to the rocks, ending up in the water in 2010.
