Are you a local artist looking for ways to get your work out and about? A not-for-profit swim school is undergoing a makeover and wants your help to fill a giant canvas.

The Plantation Swim School and Aquatic Centre is calling out to local artists to help bring creativity and colour into their renovations.

LOCAL artists could have a chance to have their works displayed permanently with The Plantation Swim School and Aquatic Centre putting a call out for help with their revamp.

“We like to use and support local businesses for any type of work that is needed here,” she said.

“As some areas of the facility need repainting, I thought why not use our local artists to assist us in revamping the facility with a fantastic mural and not just a bland painted wall.

“So a local artist that is trying to get their work out there has an opportunity to advertise their work here.

“We would like the mural to represent what the facility is about - community, water, sport, fun and families.

“The first piece will be on a big while board as you enter the main area of the facility.”

The not-for-profit swim centre which is run by Royal Life Saving Society Queensland is working on renovating the tennis and beach volleyball courts, and the areas surrounding the pools.

“We hope to hold dive-in movies where you can float on an inflatable in the pool and watch a movie on the big screen and dive-in discos with music, and night swimming also,” Ms May said.

“We are also drawing out a football field and putting in some basket ball hoops, and possibly a running track.

“The new sports area will cater for any age including schools.

“The facility will stay open all year ‘round while offering a huge variety of activities.”
