Plans are in the works for a mini housing estate across from one of the Brisbane region’s most sought after schools.
A development application has been submitted by Ausbuild Group Pty Ltd to reconfigure a single 4 hectare lot at 128-158 Dundas St, Ormiston into 45 lots for residential housing.
If approved by Redland City Council, the estate would sit across from Ormiston College, where waiting lists run into years for its private tuition.
To be built over two stages it would comprise of 25 lots measuring 400 sqm, 17 lots measuring 450 sqm and two lots measuring 600 sqm.
An existing nursery with single building and infrastructure would be replaced, as would nearly 1 hectare of the Hillards Creek conservation area.
A development report states the 0.9 hectare conservation section would be dedicated to council as park or “open space” and “improve koala habitat connections”.
It comes as local wildlife conservationists reveal the Redlands koala population has been decimated by 80 per cent in the last 15 years.
In addition to the school, the estate would be within near vicinity of Ormiston railway station and Ormiston Shopping Village.
