The 55-year-old Redlands man killed when a vehicle allegedly collided with his motorcycle at Mount Cotton in the early hours of Saturday morning has been identified as loving father-of-two and keen fisherman John McKillop.
Police allege the vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old Mount Cotton man, was travelling southbound along Mount Cotton Rd about 1.20am when he collided with Mr McKillop’s motorcycle.
Mr McKillop was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The other driver was uninjured.
On Sunday night, one of Mr McKillop’s two daughters, Ashleigh, took to social media to pay tribute to her father, who she said was on his way home from work when he was allegedly struck.
She told her father his family would “miss you very much”.
“Dad, I hope wherever you are, you are zipping down a highway rocking out to AC/DC and get to go fishing every single day,” Ashleigh said.
Mr McKillop’s older brother Michael said he was “a great guy and I’ll always have pleasant memories”.
Mr McKillop is survived by daughters Ashleigh and Jessica, wife Julie, and dogs Toby and Luna.
The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing to investigate, police confirmed on Monday morning.
