Mazes, swinging poles and a koala themed hole – see the mega new family-friendly addition coming to an already iconic Redlands pub.

The Alexandra Hills Hotel will launch its new putt putt course on December 8 after a previously unused area at the site was transformed into a flashy feature just in time for the holidays.

The new addition will feature 12 courses with a total of 48 holes with one course for children and the other three for different levels of experience and difficulty.

All holes have their own themes with the facility part of the vision from the McGuire family, the owners of the venue, to make the hotel a family-orientated place.

Matthew McGuire from the McGuire Hotel Group said they had wanted to do something with the area for a while.

“As a family owned pub group, McGuires wanted to create a space for families and friends to come together at one of our biggest pubs,” he said.

“An instalment like this is the first for the Redlands and sets up the Alexandra Hills Hotel to continue to be the community focused pub it always has been.

“We installed a playground 18 months ago and have seen how much the community have enjoyed a more family friendly atmosphere and this massive extension makes us a real destination point for families - for both locals and those from more afar.”

Mr McGuire said they wanted to wanted every hole of the course to be unique.

“After working closely with Craig Bartlett (course designer and builder) we managed to create individual challenges that will test even the most seasoned of putt putt connoisseurs,” he said.

“A favourite of mine is The Pole Hole. Poles hang around the hole and move around, knocking out the ball if you mistime your shot.

“This is a fairly difficult hole in the course but lots of fun and definitely will inspire a laugh or two.

“Plus, on Green One, affectionately known as Koala Valley,, keep a close eye on the gum trees above as we have a few furry Australian friends always climbing about.”

The putt putt course is open to all ages and also holds bookings for functions and bigger groups.

The new addition also comes after The Hills Nightclub was launched at the venue in July and also follows on from a $15.5 million makeover in 2017.

“Our goal is to create a pub that includes all aspects of the community, from young to old and every milestone in between,” Mr McGuire said.

“Plus we are planning on hosting special family days with jumping castles, face painting, petting zoos and more.

“We expanded the pub with brand new accomodation and five large conference rooms eight years ago, and this extension is another big step in the right direction for a modern Australian pub in 2022.

“We don’t want to rest on our laurels, we want this hotel to be a landmark for the area and something we can all use as a community and be proud of.”

Cost to play the course is $18 adults and $13 children and the average playing time for the course is about 45 minutes.
