ELECTION season is in full swing in the Redlands with candidates on spruiking their platforms at events across the city.

It was standing room only for Redlands2030’s first election forum Thursday night, where seven candidates spoke at the first of two events to be held by community group Redlands2030.

The event, held at the Multi-sports Club in Birkdale, included presentations from seven candidates including mayoral candidate Claire Richards as well as Councillor Paul Bishop (Division 10), Cr Wendy Boglary (Division 1), James Farrell (Division 9 candidate), Adelia Berridge (Division 9 candidate), Cal Sorenson Karklis (Division 2 candidate) and Irene Henley (Division 2 candidate).

Redlands2030 president, Stephen MacDonald said pouring rain was not nought to deter about 120 residents attending the event to hear candidates pitch for votes in the upcoming local government election on March 28.

“We’re hoping more candidates take the time to talk to the community at our second Election Forum, scheduled for March 12 Redland Bay,” Mr MacDonald said.

“It is a great opportunity to talk about their skills and visions for Redland City.”

The event was followed by a Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce Meet the Candidates Breakfast Friday which drew 16 candidates.
