A Cleveland hospitality expert who has launched the Bayside’s “cutest and crispest” cafe, becoming one of the region’s most popular coffee hotspots in just over two months, has shared her secrets to success.
Owner Demi Robins, 25, launched Qts (pronounced cuties) Cafe in September and hit 1000 Instagram followers within minutes of her opening their doors on their launch day.
Miss Robins said she sparked the idea when thinking of how her father’s business next door could use an empty space at the side of their office.
“It came up at the perfect time, it was a huge space and I had been working in hospitality making quality coffee for years,” Miss Robins said.
“I began searching for inspiration from other aesthetically clean and crisp cafes around Queensland and put my own twist on them by focusing the brand around green and white.
“The idea kept on rolling and everything kind of fell into place.
“Many customers say they don’t feel like they’re minutes from home but instead somewhere on the Sunshine Coast,” she said.
The staff at Qts Cafe are long time friends or mutual friends of Miss Robins, who she says instantly blended together like “family”.
“We all started on the first day together and gelled,” Miss Robins said.
“We have a very fun workplace and our interactions and jokes with our regulars and new customers is what makes Qts so special.
“Everybody wants a family work environment, but we genuinely have one,” she said.
Qts have tapped into Aussie nostalgia with their best selling item being jaffles.
“They’re under $10 and everyone always smiles when they see them on our menu,” Miss Robins said.
“We also serve the classics like avocado on toast, eggs benedict and a variety of decadent cakes and monster brownies by local business LePrince Cakes.
“All of our coffee is pressed from AllPress at Woolloongabba who I have worked with for years,” she said.
Qts value “starting their customer’s day right” by serving all coffee and breakfasts with a smile and a few laughs.
“We can’t wait to meet new people and build relationships, that’s always been my favourite part,” Miss Robins said.
“Customers comment on how cute the name is once they figure it out it’s pronounced cuties.
“Everyone thinks the staff are long time best friends because we are all learning together and work as a team so well.
“I’m looking forward to watching the place get busier with more people coming in, enjoying our space and getting to know the personality of my staff more,” she said.
Qts Cafe is open from Monday – Friday, 6am to 12.30pm and Saturday and Sunday, 7am – 12.30pm.
