Covid-19 restrictions ease in the Redlands

A FAMILY favourite bayside park was filled to the brim at the weekend despite ongoing warnings for social distancing.

As Covid-19 restrictions eased for the first time since their introduction weeks ago the Redlands’ Wellington Point was so packed traffic into its iconic waterfront reserve backed up for half a kilometre.

Windsurfers took advantage of recreational water restriction eases while families picnicked by the beach, and dog owners took their dogs for a swim while local cafes enjoyed a much-needed boom in business.

The long weekend scenes painted a different picture than that at Wellington Point in previous days, as people heeded warnings to stay at home.

However the location was so busy some chose to avoid it, opting for quieter places like nearby Birkdale and Thorneside, to enjoy the sunshine while others went further afield.
