The owners of Capalaba Park has announced major changes at the Bayside shopping centre including its first Aldi supermarket and a refurbished Target.

The changes, among the biggest since the centre opened in 1981, included repositioning of key specialty stores and the addition of specialist retailers Pandora, Bevilles Jewellers, Just Jeans and Liquorland.

It was expected Aldi and the new specialty stores would all be open by mid-2024.

The changes complemented the already strong drawcard of Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, Target and 110 specialty retailers.

The news came after Coles pulled out of Capalaba Central shopping centre in April after 15 years, partly due to competition from the Coles at Capalaba Park which was only 700m away.

Capalaba Park centre managers Retail First said customers were more likely these days to “cross shop’’ at the different supermarkets to try to keep within stretched grocery budgets.

They said feedback from customers was that they love the option to shop at Aldi and another major supermarket, or a fresh fruit shop, bakery or butcher.

“Capalaba Park can now offer this complete shopping experience under one roof,’’

Retail First managing director Steven Bridges said.

“This is a huge win for customers in the Redlands and a win for Capalaba Park.

“By combining Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Target and Kmart, along with a strong selection of fresh food, fashion stores, cafes, services and new retailers, with big names such as Pandora and Just Jeans, Capalaba Park is well positioned as the best retail offering in the Redlands.”

Mr Bridges said Capalaba Park would remain open during the changes.

Disruption to shoppers and retailers would be kept to a minimum.

Capalaba Park is owned by Trondage Enterprises and managed by Retail First Pty Ltd.
