This week, the bayside suburb of Capalaba became the location for Young Rock, which tells the story of Johnson, who rose to fame as a wrestler for the World Wrestling Federation in 1996.

The NBC Universal television series, being filmed by YR Productions, used a bus stop at Capalaba to complete some night-time scenes.

when the series goes to air, Redland residents will be able to point out their local bus stop at Loraine St and the Wicked Brew Café at Dollery Rd.

Rubbing shoulders with celebrity is nothing new for the city’s residents, who got up close and personal with Hollywood star Angelina Jolie while she filmed Unbroken in 2014 and Johnny Depp filmed Pirates of Caribbean a year later.

More recently TV stars such as Denise Drysdale, turned up to film Holey Moley, the obstacle course TV series based around a minigolf course.

Drysdale fell over and broke a bone during the recently filming.

Redland mayor Karen Williams said the teams of film crews regularly hitting the city would help with the economic recovery from COVID.

“Not only is it exciting to know our naturally wonderful city will be showcased on screens around the world but the boost to the local economy is also welcome,” she said.

Young Rock filming was put in hold for a few minutes north of Brisbane today, when an ambulance, ordered by a Strathpine resident, had to make its way through the real life streetscape set.
