A bayside Woolworths store has undergone a deep cleanse forcing more than 20 staff to have COVID tests after a man shopping in the store last Thursday tested positive for the virus.
Some staff at the store in Middle St, Cleveland, were informed of the positive test on Monday night and those who were working that day have been tested for the virus.
Those staff are yet to return to the store while they await their results.
A spokeswoman from the store said the man who tested positive was shopping at the centre on Thursday between 4pm and 4.40pm and had previously visited a nearby ice-cream shop, Cold Rock Ice Creamery in Raby Bay, from 3.50pm to 4pm.
Anyone who visited Cold Rock during that time is also required to get tested and isolate until receiving a negative result.
Staff members said the store was deep cleansed on Sunday night as it is each week, and registers were cleaned and wiped down every day and every night.
Those who need to get COVID tests can go to Redland Hospital at Cleveland between 8am and 4pm.
The queues were under an hour today.
