Alexandra Hills’ Joshua Leslie D’Arcy, 32, charged with child exploitation material possession

Prosecutors have told a court they will need a significant amount of time to analyse terabytes of evidence against a Brisbane bayside man charged with five counts of possessing child exploitation material.

Australia's Court System

A 32-year-old bayside man charged with a host of child exploitation material offences has had his matter adjourned so police can access critical digital evidence, a court has heard.

Alexandra Hills man Joshua Leslie D’Arcy, who is free on bail, made no appearance at Cleveland Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The defendant was charged with five counts of possessing child exploitation material and a single count of using a carriage service to access child abuse material.

The court heard a lengthy adjournment was required to investigate alleged digital evidence.

“This matter is very reliant on terabytes and hard drives and those hard drives are being analysed,” police prosecutor Sergeant Angela Tetley said.

“The officer cannot complete a statement until that is completed.

“I can see from the system things have been sent through and all the usual steps with these types of matters are being taken.

“But these charges depend on that device.”

Defence solicitor Justin Craven welcomed a long adjournment.

The matter is scheduled to be next heard on November 18.
