10 people charged after Bayside drug trafficking bust

Police have issued 420 charges against 10 people after Bayside police raided a number of premises, wrapping up a 12 month investigation.

A 12-month Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch investigation targeting alleged illicit drug traffickers has been wrapped up after raids resulting in 420 charges.

Detectives began operation Uniform Sandri in September last year.

Since then they identified a number of people allegedly involved in the trafficking of heroin and methamphetamines.

Several search warrants were executed across the Bayside district on August 29 including properties in Birkdale and Alexandra Hills.

The raids resulted in 28 people being charged with 420 alleged offences, including 12 people for alleged drug trafficking.

Police also laid supply and trafficking charges against 10 people who were all refused bail.

They appeared in Cleveland Magistrates Court today, August 30.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Mooney said the investigation targeted a network of criminals.

“This protracted investigation has targeted a network of criminals who were (allegedly) distributing dangerous drugs throughout the region and causing considerable harm and concern to the community,” he said.

“These arrests, which are the culmination of more than 12 months of hard work, demonstrate our commitment to working with the community to disrupt criminal networks and maintain focus on the safety of our community in Queensland”.

The following charges have been laid:

A 29-year-old Victoria Point man, 22 offences including one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and 17 counts of supply dangerous drugs.

A 52-year-old Birkdale man, 41 offences including one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and 37 counts of supply dangerous drugs.

A 40-year-old Birkdale woman, 41 offences including three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 32 counts of supply dangerous drugs.

A 40-year-old Birkdale woman, 41 offences including two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 34 counts of supply dangerous drugs.

A 35-year-old Birkdale man, 47 offences including two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 31 counts of supply dangerous drugs.

A 36-year-old Birkdale man, 25 offences including two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 21 counts of supplying dangerous drugs.

A 47-year-old Birkdale woman, 26 offences including one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and 24 counts of supply dangerous drugs.

A 30-year-old Birkdale woman, 16 offences including two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 12 counts of supply dangerous drugs.

A 42-year-old Alexandra Hills woman, 48 offences including three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, 31 counts of supply dangerous drugs, and one count of possess proceeds used in a crime.

A 33-year-old Alexandra Hills woman, 16 offences including one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and eight counts of supply dangerous drugs.
