A PUTT-PUTT course and indoor golf driving simulator are proposed for a site in Boondall.

The recent development application involves land adjoining the Brisbane International Hotel, on the corner of Parthenia, Sandgate and Zillmere Rds.

Plans lodged with Brisbane City Council on December 20 indicate the proposed development will involve the demolition of five motel units, a caretaker’s cottage, store room and carparking spaces currently used by the hotel.

This will be followed by the construction of a privately-owned putt-putt course with ancillary facilities (including a kiosk), a new building containing a golf driving simulator, and 27 new carparking spaces to be shared between the two uses.

In documents lodged with council, Tam Dang Planning Pty Ltd notes an existing golf course is located more than 1km to the south (Virginia Golf Course at Elliott Rd, Banyo) but “the proposed development is not considered to compete with this existing facility”.

“While the proposed development provides a private, small-scale outdoor sport and recreation area specifically for putt-putt and a small golf driving simulator, this targets a different market than a formal golf course,” documents state.

It is directly adjacent to St Joseph’s Nudgee College to the east, with residential land to the north, industrial land to the south and parklands to the west.

The application was lodged on behalf of Butterfield Holdings Pty Ltd, and is impact assessable, which means it will be publicly notified to take into account the community’s views.
