ON THE market for the first time, this property was designed for entertainers to make the most of Queensland’s tropical weather.
Owners Shannon and John Marsh built the home about six years ago with the outdoor area a key focus. It has now become their favourite part of the property.
“It’s a great entertainment space plus it’s tropical and relaxing,” Mrs Marsh said.
“We wanted a space that felt as though we were on holidays in North Queensland, or on a tropical island, and I think we achieved that.”
The home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, media room, lounge and open-plan kitchen and dining.
The media room has in-built surround sound, custom blockout blinds, lighting system and a 92 inch remote ceiling projector screen.
LED lighting is featured in the kitchen, hallway and around the pool area.
“We loved the theatre room and we had a whole cinema theme set up in there,” Mrs Marsh said.
“You could press a button on the lighting system, set up the movie, sit down with popcorn and as we do that the lights would go off.”
Mrs Marsh said they designed the home for families and entertainers with the integration of modern technology.
“We love that whole integration of technology into our family life,” she said.
“Anyone who is looking for a great entertainment home will get just that.”
The home features zoned music with in-ceiling speakers throughout and a custom designed CBUS home lighting system, both of which can be controlled by a smartphone app.
The family of three had moved to Augustine Heights from Carina and fell in love with the area.
“We have seen the area really come along with a lot of development – new shopping centres, swimming areas, university expansion and the hospital,” she said.
“We loved the transition from inner-city out here and it’s only offering more and more.”
Mrs Marsh said Dillon Ave was quite well-known around the area for its community, Christmas lights and Santa visits.
“It’s those types of things and the community orientation that give it a great feel,” she said.
“We’ve met some wonderful people, and that’s why we are staying in the area.”
