A HISTORIC coach house built for just £1715 in the 1880s is tipped to exceed seven figures when it goes to auction on Saturday.

The dilapidated Teneriffe house, on one of the suburb’s best streets at 17 Teneriffe Drive, will need a bit of love to restore it to its former glory.

The house has remained in the hands of one family for about 100 years.

Belle Property New Farm principal Ivo Kornel said the three-bedroom house, which has been held by one family for about 100 years, retains many of the fixtures and features from the original build.

“About 90 per cent of the house is untouched – it’s as original as it can be,” he said.

Most of the house has remained untouched.

Despite its run-down condition, Mr Kornel said the property was in the best location on the street.

“I’ve been selling here for 10 years and have never sold a property that offers you a park as a neighbour – it’s as rare as hen’s teeth,” he said.

The property is predicted to sell in the millions, and Mr Kornel said it had received good interest from every sector of the market.

In relative terms, the property price of £1715 in the 1880s equates to a property worth $207,000 today.

Despite its condition, the property is expected to sell in the millions.

The auction will be held on-site at noon Saturday April 2.
