ONE of Salisbury’s largest residential blocks will go under the hammer on Sunday, with the property likely to be carved into housing lots.
Ray White sales agent Tim Hollingsworth said 75 per cent of buyer interest in the prime 3440sq m block at 113 Lillian Ave had been from developers.
“There’s only two of these large blocks left in Salisbury that are not yet developed,” he said.
“Our information is you could do six blocks of land there, which helps the density of the suburb.
“Once the density starts building up, things like coffee shops start popping up and it makes better living for everybody.”
Owners Ailsa and Allan Ryan have held the sought-after parcel for 40 years, building a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house and raising their four children there.
“We have emotion attached to the home so we will be sad to see it go, but it’s time for us to move on,” Mrs Ryan said.
The auction will be at the Emporium Hotel, Fortitude Valley on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 10am. It is part of Ray White’s Australia’s Biggest Auction.
