EXTENSIVE renovations which took the owners about a year have created a family home at Ashgrove.
Despite not having their own children, owners Keith and Sonya Brewster saw the potential the home had for family living.
“We started thinking about the next family who will own this house and we designed it around them, thinking about their needs rather than our own,” Mr Brewster said.
“One thing we focused on in terms of layout was to interconnect the living areas so families can interact.
“We designed the house for families to bring a lot of people over too, we had those big events in mind.”
Mrs Brewster said favourite memories included the renovating and relaxing on the front veranda.
“We made sure in our renovations not to lose the relationship with the street,” she said. “We only raised the house and built underneath at the back due to the sloping block.
“We often sat on the front veranda and had a cup of tea, talking with people as they went past.
“It’s a very personal home and we always enjoyed living there, but once we finished the renovations we couldn’t stay because we thought it would be nice to leave it fresh for the next owners.
The two-storey home has six bedrooms, four separate living areas, four bathrooms, office and wine cellar.
The main bedroom features a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite with double basins.
Mr Brewster said the home was filled with natural light, highlighted with the use of LED solar skylights.
The 698sq m property also includes a pool with water feature, sun deck, courtyard, terrace, landscaped gardens and outdoor kitchen.
“We called the house ‘Belle Femme’, which means pretty lady in French, simply because it is a beautiful home,” Mrs Brewster said.
