WITH dolphins and swans swimming by and sunset reflections across the canal water, the owners of this Newport home always felt as though they were on holidays.
Marion and Gary Marshall built the home around 15 years ago and fell in love with the location and lifestyle.
“I built it to make the most of this beautiful Queensland weather,” Mrs Marshall said.
“There’s lots of louvres to control air flow and bi-fold doors so I could bring the outside in.”
“It’s a very practical and open house to live in and I feel like I’m on holidays every day.”
The 850sq m property is located on the corner block of a cul de sac, which Mrs Marshall said was very private.
“I don't have any neighbours and we have about 39m of canal frontage with a private beach area,” she said.
“We have our own pontoon where we would sometimes go fishing or take out the jet skis.
“We also had the approval to put in a second pontoon which is quite rare.”
There are four bedrooms with three located upstairs alongside a family room, study nook and family bathroom with separate toilet.
Two bedrooms feature walk-in wardrobes and the third has a built-in.
Downstairs the main features a walk-in wardrobe, ensuite with double basin and spa bath and bi-fold doors directly out to the deck and down to the canal and pontoon.
The home also has a separate office space, triple garage, laundry and open plan kitchen, living and dining.
The kitchen features a walk-in pantry, stone benchtops, breakfast bar seating, 90cm gas cooktop and bi-fold windows.
“It was great for entertaining and a great lifestyle for our two kids who were in their early teens when we moved in,” Mrs Marshall said.
“They could have their own space and could easily go fishing, jet skiing, sailing or even just take the dog for a swim.”
Mrs Marshall said the location of the property had been fantastic, being only a short walk to shops and restaurants.
“There’s so many choices around here, you could just hop in the car and be minutes away from major shopping centres,” she said.
“We could easily have spent another 15 years here.”
