ONCE an old Queensland cottage, this Camp Hill residence has been renovated and extended with family living in mind.
Owners Alicia and Colin Chuter, a builder, have lived in the home for almost three years.
The couple reconfigured the front, knocked down walls, added a hallway, extended the back for an open-plan kitchen, living and dining and added another three bedrooms.
“We love the back extension – it’s such a big open space, we can involve everyone and just relax,” Mr Chuter said.
“We’ve had a few birthdays and Christmases out there and it was a great place for entertaining as we designed the living area to flow out to the deck and out to the backyard.
“It’s a really great space out there.”
Mr Chuter said he had fond memories of renovating the house and having their two children born there.
“It was our first home together, and some of our favourite memories were having the children around making things a little more difficult as we tried to renovate.”
Three bedrooms are located upstairs, including the main, with two including built-in wardrobes.
The main bedroom features a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.
Downstairs two bedrooms are at the front of the home with the formal living.
“We designed the house for family living with the separation of bedrooms, so it’s good for families with older children or even guests staying over,” Mr Chuter said.
The kitchen at the back features a butler’s pantry, 90cm cooktop, tiled splashback, stone benchtops with waterfalls and feature lights over the island.
Mr Chuter said the Camp Hill community had been inviting and they had always felt safe in the area.
“When we first moved in we made a few friends, and most of them had kids, so it felt very family orientated,” he said.
“The streets have a different feel to them than the usual Brisbane streets too – they’re smaller and a little more Melbourne with the cafes nearby and cottage homes.”
The 607sq m property is close to local schools, parks, the Coorparoo train station and Carindale Shopping Centre.
