THE OWNERS of this Caboolture home built everything themselves to create a modern design incorporating clever ideas.

Owners Tegan and Shaun Puplett, a builder, designed the home for entertaining and family living with their two girls.

“We did everything ourselves and built it from scratch,” Mrs Puplett said.

“Doing it ourselves meant we could include extra storage, adequate lighting and power-points, decking at the front and back and an extra wide front door to easily get furniture inside.

“The house is also made of a material called Kool Wall – a reinforced polystyrene cladding – which basically makes the house a big Esky with a really high green smart rating.

“It’s warm in winter and cool in summer.”

Mrs Puplett said she loved to entertain and have friends over for a barbecue, so their design focused around open-plan living spaces.

“We designed the house around our lifestyle and built it exactly the way we wanted, it was a dream home,” she said.

“We entertained a lot so we made sure to have an outdoor barbecue, extra big stove and gas cooktop and plenty of pantry space.

“The outdoor barbecue is actually plumbed in to the main gas so there’s no need for running out to the shops to buy gas.”

There are four bedrooms, two bathrooms, media room and open plan kitchen, living and dining.

The kitchen features stone benchtops with waterfalls on the island, butler’s pantry, 90cm cooktop and oven and undermount sink.

Three bedrooms include built-in wardrobes whereas the main features a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.

The 622sq m property is close to local schools, Queensland University of Technology Caboolture Campus, shops, parks, public transport and the Bruce Highway.

“The community is really great - our neighbours always used to bring us fresh vegetables from their garden and the street was quiet,” Mrs Puplett said.

“We are unfortunately moving due to work and school commitments, otherwise we wouldn’t be moving.

“We will be very sad to leave.”
