A MAIN bedroom accessed by a walkway, dubbed “the drawbridge” by its owners, offers parents a degree of separation in this architecturally-designed home at Seventeen Mile Rocks.

Designed with open voids either side of the walkway, the feature offers privacy for the parents, while children still remain close.

The main bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe plus an ensuite with spa.

Three children’s bedrooms, plus a media room and family bathroom, are also on the upstairs level, on the other side of the walkway.

Owners Peter Wyeth and husband Gordon, who have lived at 13 Goodenia Cres for about 10 years, have two children.

“We very much designed it to be a family home, and while we wanted to be close to the children we also wanted that separation,” Mrs Wyeth said.

“That’s when the designer came up with the idea of having that open void either side.

“It does give you that separation from the rest of the house.”

The 933sq m property backs onto parkland and has mountain views from the front.

There is an inground pool and several outdoor spaces including two patios plus a terrace.

Features include a study, rumpus and open-plan living and dining area. The kitchen has granite benchtops, a gas cooktop, self-cleaning oven, walk-in pantry and a breakfast bar.

Mrs Wyeth said the flow from indoor living areas to outdoors had been great for entertaining.

“I love the kitchen, dining and living and the way they connect to the outdoor spaces,” she said.

“We would quite often entertain and there’s a really lovely mix of different spaces where people can have fun.

“The back of the home has a lot of glass so you can see right back out into the park.

“There’s nice views from the front too — we made the best of both aspects while still feeling private.

“The other thing I loved was the backyard. We would mow a cricket pitch and play outdoor cricket, or all get together and play soccer.”

The property is close to schools, Rocks Riverside Park, walkways, bike tracks, Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre and Jindalee DFO.

Mrs Wyeth said she had loved the surrounding neighbourhood and had many fond memories of street parties, new year’s eve celebrations and the children in the street all playing together.
