A POST-WAR house has been given a major facelift, doubling its living space and offering a modern home lifestyle for a family.

Owner Ben Holdcroft, who purchased the property last year, has spent the past seven months renovating.

“I bought the home as an investment, and it was my first attempt at doing a complete development,” he said.

“I gutted the home and did everything – I tried to keep the style consistent with other houses in the area while still modernising it.

“It’s going to be a very pleasant home for whoever ends up purchasing it.”

The house was raised and extended at the back by about 60 per cent, and Mr Holdcroft believes he created a functional layout with ample space.

“The open-plan kitchen, living, dining and balcony area is new and is something that a lot of people can resonate with these days,” he said.

The open-plan living areas offer plenty of room to entertain.

“It’s got the capacity to entertain on the deck, while still enjoying a line making dinner and catching up on a television program across the room.

“That is where the home shines.”

There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, storage room and another versatile space downstairs suitable for storage or a rumpus.

The main bedroom has an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe while the other two bedrooms have built-ins.

“It’s certainly a family home and something that someone can still make their own,” Mr Holdcroft said.

“It’s in an area that’s booming – the Oxley infrastructure such as schools, shops and transport are all being improved and updated.

“It would be a good home for a family who are looking for a functional home that is well built and well presented with good lifestyle options.”

The 607sq m property is close to local schools, shops, parks, Oxley train station and Ipswich Motorway.

Mr Holdcroft said he grew up in the area and was proud to work on a local project.

“It’s a part of Brisbane I enjoy and it felt comfortable,” he said.

“It’s a lovely community.”
