PLANS for the third stage of an ambitious West End retail and residential precinct have been lodged to Brisbane City Council.

Known as The Eaves, the proposed three-storey building and urban commons will house food and drink outlets within the West Village complex along Boundary St.

Planning documents reveal the project would create “thriving places for gathering and recreation” in the West End community.

“The Eaves have been designed to suit Brisbane’s subtropical climate and a focus on community and lifestyle,” the documents read.

“In particular, the ground floor tenancies provide large open indoor and outdoor spaces that connect with parkland to the southern boundary and Mollison Park to the western boundary.”

The first stage of West Village, which includes buildings containing more than 300 apartments, was approved in 2016.

Plans for food and drink shops have been detailed in the latest development application.

Construction of the project is ongoing but upon completion it is expected to house more than 1200 apartments, an expansive green area and 18,500 sqm of non-residential space.

Under the third stage, which is being handled by developer Uniacke Pty Ltd, The Eaves will “integrate seamlessly” with the rest of the West Village.

West Village is a 2.6 hectare urban renewal development being established by Sekisui House Australia in Brisbane’s West End. At the heart of the $1 billion precinct are the heritage listed former Peters Ice Cream factories. These industrial icons were in operation for almost 70 years and represent a valued part of Brisbane's history.
