A young Brisbane restaurateur has taken another step towards her ambitious dream of opening 100 locations around Australia within the next 15 years for her American-style chicken restaurant.
Alison Reid – the director of Yums! Burgers, Wings, Fries and Shakes – will launch the chain’s second location in Paddington’s Rosalie Village on June 19 after opening the first restaurant in Woolloongabba last November.
Yums! is a chicken-based restaurant, which serves up a variety of chicken burgers, wings and thickshakes.
“We wanted something on the northside of Brisbane,” Ms Reid said.
“We scouted around for a couple of locations and this one stood out to us as it’s situated in an already well known food hub in Rosalie Village.”
Ms Reid said the move for a second location was part of their “aggressive growth” business strategy.
“We believe that that’s the only way for us to see our business grow and be successful in this monopolistic industry,” she said.
“As ambitious owners, we aren’t settling for anything less than 100 stores in Australia in the next 15 years, then venture on to international destinations.
“The success of the Woolloongabba store contribution to this was very little, to be honest.
“The business has to be successful in some form for us to be able to gain capital for funding and also train the staff to fill in our roles to enable us to have the time to work on this second location as well.”
Ms Reid said their plans for the near future included opening four to six more locations in the Greater Brisbane area as well as the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.
She also said there were 15 jobs up for grabs as part of the Paddington restaurant’s opening.
“We have two full time assistant manager roles, a couple of part-time, and mostly casual roles. “Resumes can be sent to support@yums.com.au.”
