Three generations of rugby league premierships now surround the Green family Lilly Green helped her Wests Panthers to thesenior women’s title earlier this month.
Wests beat favourites Burleigh Heads 14-8 in a thrilling finish to snap Burleigh’s four title winning streak.
It was, a win mande all the more satisfying given the absence of representative stars Julia Robinson and Heather Ballenger.
It was a coaching milestone for Panthers mentor Craig Green in more ways than one.
In 1992-93 Green, the father of Lilly, helped the Wests Panthers to successive premierships.
Almost 20 years earlier Craig’s dad, Bob, was a member of the Panthers 1975-76 premiership winning BRL teams.
“It was pretty cool. Three generations,’’ he said in reference to Lilly joining himself and her grandfather as Panthers’ premiershipplayers.
He said coaching his daughter can be “nerve racking’’.

“You are a coach and a dad and it is really nerve racking,’’ Craig Green said.
“But when the game starts, I am the coach.
“She has a job to do just like all the other player sin the squad.
“She has progressed really well.’’
Green praised the manner in which the side gelled together.
“We played for each other and even thought we went behind early in the grand final, you could see they were sticking togetherand wanted to get the job done,’’ he said.
