Sandgate-Redcliffe were celebrating the success of rookies after a memorable weekend in both men’s and women’s senior cricket.
The Gators have ushered in three new faces across the last two matches into its men’s team, while its women’s side is littered with young players.

Among the rookies to shine for the women in last weekend’s win over Valley were schoolgirls Georgia Voll (34) and Julia Cavanough (31 not out, 27 balls).
‘That goes down as one better wins we have had,’’ said women’s coach Bruce Arnold.
Tess Cooper (39) led a side which is minus 14 top squad players. “She is fighting really hard as the leader of the group,’’’ Arnold said.
In Bulls Masters cricket, Nudgee College schoolboy Jet Liebke, Harry Sweeney and Lachlan Porter have all made debuts for Sandgate-Redcliffe, although it was a young veteran, Lloyd Aspin, who took 5-50 as Souths’ second innings wobbled to 8-134 before stumps.
Aspin has been a regular at the bowling crease in short form cricket, but his long form bowling developed during an off-season abroad.
He has played more than 50 games now for Sandgate which is a lot in a young side.
Men’s coach Vic Williams said he would like to have made more than 191 after bowling Souths out for 151 in the first innings.
“We bowled well but there are still some improvements we need to make in batting.’’
Meanwhile, Sandgate-Redcliffe’s two under 15 girls’ teams will play under lights at the club on Friday evening for the first time.
