Howard Smith Wharves opens in Brisbane

It’s one of the most exciting venues on the Brisbane river and now Felons Brewing Co has announced the official opening of its new beer garden in the Howard Smith Wharves precinct.

As the second of the site’s two lifts opened today, creating easy access to the multimillion-dollar location, Felons marketing manager Dean Romeo said the company was excited to bring the new space to the city.

The Felons Beer Garden can host up to 250 people, creating a total capacity for the brewery venue of 1000 people.

Mr Romeo said every effort had been made to create a relaxed space for “people of all ages and species, because we love dogs as well”.

From the “crazy pave” mixed cut tile flooring to the mixed tile table tops, Mr Romeo said the design offered a subtle nod to European aesthetics in the cut tile designs and olive trees as well as preserving the history of the location.

Welcoming visitors to the brewery arriving from the glass lift entry on the cliffs is a “cool neon” sign and path that flows into the relaxed beer garden setting.

Mr Romeo also said one of the nicest things about opening the beer garden was fully “unveiling the 360 degree bar”.

“I’ve been in the beer and wine industry for 15 years and I would put my hand on my heart and say this space is spectacular,” he said.

From the 360 degree service bar, to the stunning river vistas, Felons Brewing Co General Manager Ash Cranston said the design of the venue created “multiple points to get your hands on a brewery fresh beer”.

“It brings us nothing but pure joy to provide more space for the community to enjoy our beer in good company” Mr Cranston said.

“The Garden has been carefully designed with the addition of a striking neon sign and two 40 year old Olive trees.

The booth seating is lined with a selection of Citrus trees which the team plan to use in some upcoming limited release beers. The whole garden can admire the incredible views of the cliffs.”

Mr Cranston said with the new 30 metre lift shaft opening, “finding your way down the brewery has never come easier”.

The brewery features a DME Brewhouse imported from Canada, lengthy decks, communal tables, as well as the boatyard bar and fish and chippery as well as the nearby installation art work by Brisbane’s Anthony Lister.
