Ringmasters of fun roll into Brisbane

An unassuming shopping centre in Brisbane’s north is about to be shaken up by the arrival of a dazzling circus-themed pleasure dome – the first of its kind in Queensland – offering food and entertainment. Now, it’s opening date has been confirmed.

Dodgems will be available at Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq, opening at Toombul Shopping Centre in November.

A NEW circus-themed pleasure dome will open in Brisbane in November — offering food, cocktails and arcade games.

Funlab will open its first Brisbane entertainment wonderland, Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq, at Toombul Shopping Centre on Thursday, November 14.

It is only the third Archie Brothers location in Australia, after Alexandria, Sydney opened in December 2017 and Docklands, Melbourne in October 2018.

Funlab CEO Michael Schreiber said Archie Brothers was an incredible experience and would draw visitors from far and wide across Brisbane.

“Having said that, we love the northside catchment and consider they will become our regulars,” Mr Schreiber said.

“We like the connectivity and access of Toombul and believe the new Toombul Shopping Centre dining and entertainment precinct will be a major attraction.”

A spokeswoman said Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq would be the gamers — and foodies — paradise “that officially blows your mind”.

“It will be a dazzling, mind-boggling circus-themed pleasure dome-slash-diner-slash-cocktail joint, jam-packed full of kid-adult fun.

“With arcade games galore including Mario Kart and Willy Wonka, theme park adventures like Dodgems and Coney Island, trippy virtual reality experiences, bowling and ThrillRide, one of Australia’s best interactive XD motion theatres, there are literally enough bells and whistles to keep you occupied for days.”

However the spokeswoman said the games were more than just a barrel of fun.

“Punters can also win tickets arcade-style and trade them in for unique and zany prizes including pop vinyls, gaming consoles, and 90s retro paraphernalia.”

The spokeswoman said the Archie Brothers interior would be “a feast for the senses”.

“Upon entering through red velvet drapes, the scent of popcorn and fairy floss fill the air, punters look out to a sea of colourful flashing arcade game signs, to the soundtrack of DJ-spun tunes.

“The tricked-up cocktail bar built to resemble a vintage carousel is a focal point of the room.

“Booth seating is modelled around classic theme park rides like the Cha Cha and Tea-Cup Ride.”

Then there’s the food.

“If Sideshow Alley had a baby with an American Diner the result would be the Archie Brothers Dazzler’s Diner menu,” the spokeswoman said.

There will be five kinds of burgers, four kinds of hotdogs, pizzas, giant pretzels, chicken wings and fries.
