Residents invited to have their say on Carseldine Urban Village proposal
RESIDENTS in a suburb in Brisbane’s north are being urged to speak up over a development that would turn a former university into 50 homes, 150 retirement village units and a shopping precinct.

NORTHSIDE residents are encouraged to formally have their say on the Carseldine Urban Village development.
The development will transform the former QUT campus into a residential, shopping and sport precinct.
People will be able to submit for or against Stage 1 of the development during the formal public notification period from August 9 until September 20.
Stage 1 includes a boulevard entrance and the subdivision of three master lots which will see around 50 homes created and a proposed retirement site that could contain a mix of 150 townhouses and apartments for different levels of mobility.
The application also seeks preliminary approval of the master plan and three external intersection upgrades – Zillmere Rd and Dorville Rd, Beams Rd and Dorville Rd roundabout and the Carseldine Station park’n’ride entry on Beams Rd.
Member for Aspley Bart Mellish said extensive community engagement was held last year on the proposed master plan concept, which saw around 80 people attend three information sessions.
“Community feedback I’ve received has meant that we are now excluding the western side of the site fronting Dorville Rd from being developed,” he said.
“This was a great community win, which is incorporated into these plans going out for public consultation.
“A formal public notification period is now commencing, and we are inviting the community to write and have their say on the proposed development.”
Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick encouraged residents, businesses and community groups to provide feedback on the
proposed development.
“We held two community information sessions in late June 2018 on this development
application, which around 20 people attended and viewed Stage 1, the master plan and
several comprehensive reports, including a traffic impact assessment, stormwater
management and ecology report,” he said.
“All these reports and development plans have also been available online since May 4, 2018,
giving the community time to read and digest the information.”
