Rebecca Jacobson believes years of practice is finally starting to pay dividends after reflecting on a stunning year in the pool.

Rebecca Jacobson believes years of practice is finally starting to pay dividends after reflecting on a stunning year in the pool.

The Albany Creek Swimming Club member hit the bullseye at the Oceania Championships earlier this year when she won the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle events representing Australia.

The McDowall resident She also snared two gold and four silver in the relay events.

“I think this has been a really good year for me,’’ the year 11 student at Craigslea State High School said.

“This year has been my best

“I think I am getting to an age where I am starting to develop.

“You are putting all these years of life experience and knowledge into practice and it works.

“It takes a lot of test runs before you get the final product and it worked out this year.’’

Jacobson’s coach Richard Sleight said Jacobson was “very determined’’ and a “great competitor’ who understood the holistic approached to the sport.

“She is rated very highly in Australia. She won gold and silvers at the national age where she had to swim certain times to be selected for the Oceania Games. She was then named female swimmer of the meet.’’

Sleight said Jacobson’s goals was to do well at April’s national age championships where she would aim to qualify for the world junior championships in Budapest.

“That would be an awesome opportunity,’’ Sleight said.
