Popular Wilston dining precinct’s shock closure leaves staff in the dark

A popular dining precinct north of Brisbane has shut up shop for good, alerting staff via text and customers via Facebook.

The shock closure of a popular Wilston dining precinct has left staff without jobs and customers wondering what went wrong.

Pizzeria Violetta and Sichuan Bang Bang which were opened side-by-side at Kedron Brook Road, Wilston, by successful restaurateur Renata Roberts five years ago, shut its doors for good on May 16.

News of the restaurants closure took Ms Roberts, who sold the business several years ago, by surprise.

The new owners took to Facebook to share the news with customers writing:

“Dear loyal friends and customers, we regret to announce that Pizzeria Violetta Wilston has closed permanently as of 16 May 2021. It has been a pleasure serving you Brisbane. Thank you and good bye from the team.”

The same post appeared on the Sichuan Bang Bang Wilston Facebook page.

It is understand staff were informed of the closure via a group text message, with no warning.

The message, shared in a community social media page, states that the “big boss” made the “last minute decision to close” at the weekend.

Quest Community News attempted to contact the owners but the phone had been disconnected.

The Sichuan Bang Bang and Pizzeria Violetta restaurants at Kenmore will remain open.

Pizzeria Violetta at Kenmore was recently voted as the best westside pizzeria.
