Unexpected Christmas nativity scenes greeted Aspley commuters this morning as three camels were found wandering the streets, stopping traffic and causing havoc for the morning commute.
The animals, believed to have escaped from the Bethlehem walk at Bridgeman Baptist Church, were seen walking into oncoming traffic on Albany Creek Rd around 9am.
Stunned drivers slowed to avoid the animals, also taking the opportunity to take photos and videos if the bizarre incident.
Many took to Facebook to warn others of the traffic hazards, while also taking the opportunity to see the humour in the situation.
“There’s something you don’t see everyday!” said one person.
“Probably trying to find where the wise men went” said another.
“It's not even hump day!”
“Perfect timing for Christmas. Where are the kings?”
Police media were contacted but were unaware of the escapees roaming the streets of Aspley.
Worried locals were put at ease as passers by confirmed the animals had been wrangled and were patiently eating grass by the side of the road in the company of a good Samaritan.
