North Brisbane’s best burger has been named thanks to votes cast by northside readers.
Locals have voted Carseldine establishment Fryhard as the area’s best burger, after celebrity chef Matt Preston put the callout for nominations.
Fort he past six years the business has been run by husband-wife team Alison and Craig Lingard.
The super parents manage to run their successful local business while raising a young family, and the community support for their restaurant proves just what a spectacular job they’re doing.
“We’re really humbled,” Mrs Lingard said.
“My husband comes up with all the burger ideas and I cook them.
“I definitely take pride in my burgers.”
She said there were some key rules to running an amazing burger shop: fresh ingredients, value for money... “and they’ve got to be tasty”.
She said consistency was also vital, adding that it wouldn’t matter whether a customer ordered on a busy Friday night or a slower-paced weekday lunch hour, the quality of her burgers always remained the same — and that was what kept people coming back for more.
“We have our regulars, they don’t even need to tell us what their order is.
“They expect the best every single time.”
Mrs Lingard said the pair decided to purchase the business six years ago. It had only been up and running for just over a year at the time.
“I was a stay at home mum and was looking to return to work.
“My husband used to work at Eagle Boys’ head office... so we thought ‘why don’t we go into business for ourselves?’”
She said after long days and nights at the start, the couple have been able to create a well-established business with an ever-growing customer base, which means a little more time with their young family.
“I have good staff — I’m able to have that flexibility now,” Mrs Lingard said.
