SIX-YEAR-OLD twins Mila and Arya missed out on a school field trip to the zoo because of the coronavirus pandemic, so their mum brought the zoo to them.

When Thursday’s excursion to Australia Zoo was cancelled mum Sheree (an early childhood educator) created a zoo with stuffed animals and toys in their yard at Bald Hills.

“I took the day off to go with them and I think I was just as disappointed as they were (when it was cancelled),” Sheree said.

“I decided to keep the day off and suggested we create our own zoo excursion – just to be silly and have fun.

“Their two older sisters helped – one was the zoo keeper and she fed the crocodile.

“I gave them (Mila and Arya) little clipboards like they would have on a normal field trip and had them draw pictures of their favourite animals.

“We also had an interactive wildlife display with a real turtle and guinea pigs which they were able to touch.

“They thought it was great – they play these sort of games all the time.”
