A drug addicted father who was once dubbed a ‘habitual traffic offender’ banned from driving for two and a half years for more driving offences

Australia's Court System

A man once dubbed a “habitual traffic offender” has been ordered off the roads for two and a half years after being caught driving while on methamphetamine.

Wade Anthony Hosking pleaded guilty at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court to driving unlicensed and drug driving.

Police said they pulled over the car Hosking was driving about 10.40am on May 20, where he produced a NSW licence that had expired in 2018.

Checks revealed he had been disqualified from driving by court order.

Hosking blew a negative test for alcohol but admitted to police he had been using drugs, the court heard.

The court also heard Hosking had a lengthy NSW traffic history and in 2013 had been declared a “habitual traffic offender”. But that was quashed in Ballina in 2016.

Hosking, a father of one, had moved to Queensland to be closer to his brothers who lived north of Brisbane.

The court heard Hosking had been struggling with a meth addiction but had recently been placed on probation for other offences and had been engaging with the Lives Lived Well drug support network.

He was ordered to undergo another six months of probation and banned from driving for the next two and a half years.
